I'm impressed by how supportive all you writers are out there in blogosphere...we don't even really know each other and yet we're supporting each other through rejection, miscarriages, depression...you name it. It's very moving, really. And I'm glad to be a part of it.
On a lighter note, I try to support myself emotionally by leaving myself little notes when I write. Let's say I'm near the end of my book writing "day" (which is usually about an hour long, if I'm lucky), and I don't have enough time to finish the scene. Instead of just leaving it hanging, I write myself a note at the end...something along the lines of...
"Anita, you rock! This is one of the best pieces of work I've ever read in my life. Agents, editors and readers are going to be blown away by these pages. I can't wait to see what becomes of this scene and you! Have you been losing weight?"
These words of encouragement always make me smile when I get back to the story. :)

Anita, that's an awesome idea! I certainly need to be more positive with myself. I'm always tearing myself down, it seems. I just need to ... write notes to myself! And uplifting ones at that. Because sometimes I really do rock. And I know you do too!
Great idea!! You are right...very supportive, wonderful people! :-)
OMG! I love the idea of leaving myself these kinds of notes. I think I'm going to write one right now!
I love love LOVE the idea of the supportive notes! I think we should all do this.
Rick, your comments are hilarious! Insightful, too.
Wait, was I supposed to do that at the end?
I think is was Hemingway that always ended a writing session with an incomplete sentence, so when he started again he would know what to write.
Overall, the writing community has shown itself to be amazingly encouraging in general. Who knew such kind people were behind such a solitary craft?
:)
Love this idea! So much so that I'm stealing it! Going to write myself a supportive note right now. ;o)
That is funny, but a great idea! Note to self: Write notes to self. ;)
I do think because writing is such a solitary job, it makes the writing community that much more eager to connect with one another. I've "met" so many kind, intelligent, funny people through this writing and blogging biz!
What a great idea, I laughed reading it. And what a nice way to return to our work, with a little humor, a little encouragement, putting us in a great writing frame of mind!
ALL: Please let yourselves know Anita thinks youu rock, too!
That's funny, because when I opened my laptop tonight I found this note:
Murph--Brawny is to paper towels as your story will be to literature. Love, Anita.
You shouldn't have.
And how did you, by the way?
I leave myself notes too, but that's more to remind myself of where I want to go next because if I don't write myself a note I forget! :O
