I'm not rich or royalty

I know there are trips I'll never take, handbags I'll never own, houses I'll never live in, because I'm not rich or royalty. Sometimes that fact makes me jealous. I admit it. But then I take a trip to the local library or bookstore and I feel a little less green, because as far as I know, there aren't authors out there writing only for the rich and royalty....authors are writing for all of us.

Someday, little Apple and Moses will read the Harry Potter series. Too bad for them, my kids will have read the books first, nah-nah-nah-nah-boo-boo. And maybe Angelina's found time between making babies to pick up some Jodi Picoult, but guess what, so have I, so there.

Maybe I don't have the handbags and houses. But I've got something even better..books.

kind of a snarky comment (but I like it)...

I was hoping to be snarky in a fun kind of way, but it's difficult gauging how things will "sound." My apologies to the Martins and Jolie-Pitts.

Thanks for stopping by. And one thing I've learned in life is that money doesn't make me happy - relationships do.

I agree. Books rock!

A great book is priceless, whereas handbags and houses are... (Where was I going with this?)

When you get lost in a book you can own all those bags, homes and, of course, for me a Mercedes. Then you can finish your read and still have your real life. And oh, btw, I do have a Mercedes MOTOR, and it actually powers something but not a car.

Still, if I were totally loaded I could spend more time reading.

You are so right, Anita! Books do make me happier than any of those other things ever could. Each one is an adventure!

I agree with The First Carol.

And the Martins and Jolie-Pitts (poor kids, they'll really identify with Albus Severus and Reneeeeeeeesssssssssssmmmmmmeeeeeeeeeee) will get over it.

So true! Love it!
I read your comment on PJ's blog about crying at the last Harry Potter when a certain person died. I BAWLED, I was reading aloud to my son and just broke down. He was my favorite character!

Thanks for commenting, everybody! It's always a treat to connect with people.

I've got to know what THE FIRST CAROL's Mercedes motor powers.

KELLY: Don't even get me started! I think I could still cry just thinking about it!

I love this post. The playing field levels in bookland, because we can all read the same books! Hah! I love that idea...
