I like to think I'm the only self-pubbed author who got that email last week. Was it only last week...seems like a month ago? Anyway, I wasn't. Everybody got offered the KDP. I haven't taken up the offer. For many reasons, not the least of which is that it would require me to read things. Rules and stuff. I can't even play Candyland because of the rules. Not without a couple cups of coffee.
But have YOU decided to KDP? Either way, what do you think of it? And if you're a writer and you don't know what the heck I'm talking about, please apply Google. Or go write something...you'll probably be better off that way.
The debate.

I chose not to because of the exclusivity. I don't want to pull my book from other distribution channels. I'm also skeptical about how they pay the royalties; it's a percentage off the $500k monthly total, and that percentage is a moving target based on your sales and the number of other books in the program. It's impossible to predeict what your royalty per book will be, and it could change every month. Big sales / low sales...even no sales, that just doesn't make business sense.
I read about it on another blog. A lot of my readers own iPads, Kobos, and Nooks. If I were self published, I wouldn't do it, because no one else could download my book.
Hmmm I don't know what would be the best for authors. I think I need to look at the options of KDP vs non-KDP
My publisher told me about it, but we are on the fence right now...
ALL: Thanks for your comments. I've decided not to KDP. Maybe if I had a few other books under my belt, but now where I am now.
Good luck to all of you!
Interesting. (I just googled it).
Kurdistan Democratic Party?
Cold As Heaven
KELLY: I know!
COLD: Yes, that's it.
