How big is your nose? And Amazon...wow!

My daughter told me her nose is big. It's not. I asked her if she'd been staring at it in the mirror for a long time. She said yes. I told her that's why it looks big. Because if you stare at something long enough, it tends not to look so good.

My point: For those of you who've been revising for a year...STOP!!! You're done. It looks bad, because you've been staring at it too darn long.

In other news, Amazon has sold a MILLION ereaders and tablets/week for the last three weeks. Man, I hope some of those people buy my ebooks. :)

Outta here.

I often wonder at people who spend years revising. I wonder how they manage it and I wonder, sometimes, why they do it. Eventually, you have to just stop!

I totally love this. I don't love that your daughter doesn't like her nose, but I love your response to her and I love your analogy.

This is exactly my problem--spending too much time on a work and staring at it until it's no longer "good." And I suffer the disease of over-revising.

I'll keep your post in mind to try and curb that tendency!

CYNTHIA: Yes, let's make them stop!

KRISTINA: I didn't know about your revising issues! Very interesting...I'll counsel you on it. :) And I actually like big noses.

Since they've dropped the price point on the kindle I can definitely see why they are selling so much!

ANITA: I know! And Nook's had a couple specials, too, that have brought the price down to cheap Kindle levels. I'm cautiously optimistic about my Christmas ebook sales. Will keep you posted.

That many ereaders? Makes me sad. I love books in the hand.

I don't feel sorry for the publishing companies and book stores that will be going out of business with the rise of the ereaders. I feel that the New York Publishers created an environment that allowed scam artists in the past two decades to rise up and scoop money from people who could not get published traditionally. Some people were bilked out of thousands of dollars just so that they could see something of theirs in print. This wouldn't have been possible if the snooty publishers hadn't allowed this to happen. So now, publishing is easier. You can get there with hard work, and it doesn't cost you a fortune. Amazon's power and influence is continuously growing because of this. /cheer for Amazon.

KELLY: Hah! Will do!

COLD: Husband thought your nose comment funny!

JOSHUA: I think we'll have both for a long, long time.

MICHAEL: It's all very interesting, watching this publishing thing and how it plays out. Still trying to find my place in it, like so many others.
